Why so many people search for a 2025 version
Three separate things push people here, and all three are reasonable mistakes rather than carelessness.

The version-number one accounts for most of it. Software usually numbers itself in step with its name, so seeing 25 where you expected 24 reads as evidence you own something newer. You do not. You own the edition the box describes, running the version the developers gave it.

25.0.2with build 181 is the current release of FTM 2024.An earlier build means you have not run the free 25.0.2 update yet. It carries stability fixes and adds statistics panels to the Connect workspace, and the publisher recommends it for everyone on FTM 2024.
The publisher sends the updater by email to newsletter subscribers and also hosts it in its Update Center. - Some trees disappear from the Plan workspace. Alarming, and harmless. The update resets the list of known trees rather than deleting anything. Open each missing tree once through and it returns to the list permanently.
- Trees from FTM 2019 convert on first opening. That happens once. A tree already opened in the original 25.0.0 release is not converted a second time by 25.0.2.
Plug-ins such as Charting Companion and Family Book Creator carry across the update normally. If one stops appearing under Plugins, reinstalling it is the fix rather than reinstalling the whole program.
Is it worth waiting for a newer edition?
No, because there is nothing to wait for. Nothing has been announced, and this publisher has never shipped on an annual cycle. Five years separated FTM 2019 from FTM 2024. Anyone holding off for a 2025 or 2026 release is waiting for something with no date attached to it.
